Whereas, the Region of Waterloo is implementing its Interim Housing Plan while developing a Plan to End Chronic Homelessness, an unprecedented commitment using an all of community approach to ending chronic homelessness in Waterloo Region. Whereas, the 2024 Regional budget included an addition of $10.2 million to address, prevent and end chronic homelessness while the Plan to End Chronic Homelessness will be finalized and delivered in April of 2025, Whereas, an additional $236,390 grant was approved by Council for A Better Tent City, a volunteer-led organization that did not meet the criteria set out in the Region’s Fee-for-Service call for proposals to provide Community Outreach and Support Services, Whereas, agreement outcomes and accountabilities currently exist for similar outreach services funded by the Region of Waterloo, Therefore be it resolved that Regional staff be directed to collect outcomes, data and metrics from A Better Tent City that align with existing homelessness outreach agreements and providers and that such are agreed to with A Better Tent City.
